Wells Fargo Championship, Quail Hollow - 2013

The PGA Tour rolls on this week with yet another top quality tournament to entertain us with. Rory McIlroy returns to action and to a course that produced his very first PGA Tour title 3 years ago, whilst Tiger decides to pass this week. Its a fascinating field again and the cream should be rising to the top come Sunday. The blog has been a bit unlucky recently with many players in contention after rounds 2&3 only to see the picks either have poor final rounds or another player comes through to trump them all over the closing holes. Its been awhile though since we had a player go in in the US but I am quietly confident that will change this week. Its a tough course, and one that will need some good accurate driving and some decent putting to win. Lets just hope our picks are still in it come playing the "Green Mile" on Sunday.

Step forward local boy, Webb Simpson. Webb is gradually becoming my new "Michael Campbell". Cambo was like a cash machine for me over the years and Webb is starting to show a consistency that I like and that I feel he will compete and go close in certain tournaments. This is one of them.  he treats this as his local event as its the closest to him and he will travel to and from the course from his family home this week. That suits Webby right down to the ground. Beaten in a playoff at Harbour Town last time out and 4th here last year are positives to bring to the tee. His consistency that I mention is further enhanced by 4 top 6 finishes and 3 top 20s from 11 starts this season. The current US Open champion has the game to win here this week and has the driving skills to put him good positions to score. The 20/1 with Betfair Fixed Odds is a bit bigger than I was expecting so I'm diving in.

My second pick is D.A. Points @ 45/1 with Betpack. I've never backed this player before but I cannot ignore his current form and his course form. He lost in playoff alongside Rory last year here to Rickie Fowler and comes here having won in Houston and finished 2nd in New Orleans last Sunday. This is after missing 7 cuts beforehand though, but he's in form likes the course and has to be kept onside this week.

So too does my third pick, Lucas Glover. The former US Open Champion finished 4th last Sunday having led after 54. This is his favourite course this week at Quail Hollow and the 2009 champ has backed that liking up with 4 TOP10s from 9 starts. He has indicated this week that he is excited to be playing this event so he too is kept onside in the expectation that recent form will continue on a course he likes.

I'm adding a fourth pick this week on the PGA Tour. Russell Henley is a player to watch out for and after winning in Hawaii in January he has started to settle in and produce some consistency which is key on the tour. Having made 8 cuts from 11 starts this season, he arrives here off the back of T6th at Hilton Head. No doubting his driving or putting ability, he could be the best outside chance this week and at 80/1 with Betpack I'll play him for half stakes too.

TIP 1: 2 pts win W.Simpson @ 20/1 Betfair

TIP 2: 1 pt e/w D.A. Points @ 45/1 Betpack

TIP 3: 1 pt e/w L.Glover @ 50/1 Paddypower

TIP 4: 0.5 pts e/w R.Henley @ 80/1 Betpack
