2025 PGA Championship - Quail Hollow GC, Charlotte, North Carolina

The 2nd Major of the year this week and it's the PGA Championship. It still irks me that it retains Major status when 20 PGA Professionals of the US qualify and "compete" for the Wanamaker. I lighten up by watching Tin Cup to ease my concerns and put myself in the mood.

Rory is the latest Grand Slam winner and arrives at Quail Hollow having won 4 times here before and like Augusta last month remains the man to beat - I'm hoping he goes in again and will roar him home over the weekend for sure

One thing of interest, and perhaps it really should be this way for any Major,is to consider the form coming into the PGA Championship as highlighted by the recent winners in their last event before lifting the Wanamaker below.

  • 2024 Xander Schauffele 2nd
  • 2023 Brooks Koepka 6th
  • 2022 Justin Thomas 5th
  • 2021 Phil Mickelson 69th (50 yrs of age)
  • 2020 Collin Morikawa 20th
  • 2019 Brooks Koepka 4th
  • 2018 Brooks Koepka 5th
  • 2017 Justin Thomas 28th
  • 2016 Jimmy Walker 11th
  • 2015 Jason Day 12th
  • 2014 Rory McIlroy 1st
  • 2013 Jason Dufner 4th
  • 2012 Rory McIlroy 5th
  • 2011 Keegan Bradley 15th
  • 2010 Martin Kaymer 22nd
  • 2009 Y.E. Yang 18th
  • 2008 Padraig Harrington 20th
  • 2007 Tiger Woods 1st
  • 2006 Tiger Woods 1st

So, Rory goes for his 3rd PGA as too does JT as too does Phil Mickelson(!) but a win for Jordan Spieth would see him join Rory as a Grand Slam winner also. Jordans finishing position last time out ? 34th ! (was 4th previously at The Byron)

I was hugely disappointed by JT at Augusta - seemed to play "too patient" but he's in great form (although he had his chance last Sunday it must be said) but this week presents an opportunity to claim his 3rd PGA/Major and I'm going to play him again given that Rory, Scottie & Bryson are so strong at the top of the market and gives JT some value

1.0 pts E/W Si Woo Kim @ 90/1 - 10 places
