The Open Championship 2022 - St Andrews

I won't see much of The Open again this year as it's family holiday time for me but I'll try grab some coverage on the Sunday. St Andrews if weather is fine will play into the hands of those bombers who have the skills to get up and down when required. If ever there was a chance for Rory McIlroy to add to his Major haul, St Andrews this week could be that time. Alas best price of 10/1 is if no value here but he's the one I'd like to see prevail come Sunday.

That said, I couldn't pass up on JT @ 22/1 - 9 places. Yes his Open form isn't great but we said that about his Major form in general before the PGA Championship. His best finish to date was at Royal Portrush finishing 11th before a T-40th last year at Royal St.George's. JTs T2G game,if on song will see him go very close this week and I thought his price looked wrong at the head of the market where recent US Open Champion, Matt Fitzpatrick is lower in the betting.

Shane Lowry is sure to contend and I do think Padraig Harrington can create a stir by getting up the leaderboard on Thursday and wouldn't be shocked to see him post a T-10/20 here this week(11/1 & 5/1).

Thomas Pieters is higher than Ryan Fox,Billy Horschel,Keegan Bradley, Cameron Young and even Tiger Woods this week and I just don't get it. Open form is nothing to boast about with 67-28-44-30 returns but the Belgian is in fine form this season and has shown links form in the past so the 100/1 - 9 places appeals.

I've completed my staking plan with another go with Victor Perez who did the business for me at the Dutch Open last month. Now living in Dundee with his partner, this is sort of a home game this week for the Frenchman and I can see him being relaxed and having a decent outing. Form at Scottish Open can be ignored for most players but previously Victor was in solid form and can bring his winning experience from the 2019 Alfred Dunhill Championship into the week and give us a run for our money @ 100/1 - 9 places
