Open de Andalucia 2011

Yet another poor week for the blog last week with only Michael Campbell making the cut and with a poor 3rd rd he was all but out of the top 10 finish market. Its been frustrating to be so far off the past 3 weeks but as with any punting, these streaks are inevitable, hence why I only bet 5% of my bank each week spread over the 6 pts (3 selections) with an exception made for the Majors when I usually take an extra bet. With the bank at 294.49 pts profit, the blog is still in a healthy state with a lot of golf still to be played before the year is out. That winner is not far away to kick start the 2011 campaign
A slightly better field is assembled this week for the Open de Andalucia which is hosted by Miguel Angel Jiminez. With the withdrawal of defending champion, Louis Oosthuizen due to illness, the spotlight falls on Alvaro Quiros to take the honours and he starts as favourite at a general 12/1. With the course very short this week, I am not convined that the big hitting Spaniard is at much of an advantage in that department this week and will look towards more accurate players in the driving accuracy & GIR rankings to hopefully cross the line. Chris Wood is the first to make the frame for me. I passed on him last week as I believed he would feel under pressure to win in Sicily given the field, but this week he is not under that same pressure and he could just sparkle @ 30/1, excellent odds Paddypower. My second pick is none other than Oliver Wilson, fresh from his exploits in Florida at the recent Tavistock Cup. His golf game clicked that week where he scored the lowest round of the week and that should exude confidence in the Englishman for this week where the maiden win may just materialize. If putting to his true potential he can win and the odds 45/1 are too good to pass this week Boylesports. My third choice is settled on Richard Green who will be all out to win and secure a spot at the Masters (runner up spot would also clinch it). He is in form and has the accuracy required to contend this week. Best price 35/1 Paddypower. I feel I shouldn't mention the other considerations that are missing out on my staking plan this week following last weeks mention of Anthony Wall, who really should have won in Sicily but eventually missed out by a shot to Raphael Jacquelin, but I will be watching Lowry, Morrison & Elson (all +100/1) also.

TIP 1: 1 pt e/w Chris Wood @ 30/1 Paddypower; First win not far away and has the all round game to win any given week. Course setup may be to his liking this week too.

TIP 2: 1 pt e/w Oliver Wilson@ 45/1Boylesports; Another Englishman still looking for that maiden win and he will be coming into this with a lot of confidence following his performance at the Tavistock Cup. When putting is on song he will challenge and this is the week he can finally break through.

TIP 3: 1 pt e/w Richard Green @ 35/1 Paddypower; The lefthander from Oz is in great form lately and has a chance to make Augusta in a couple of weeks time if he can finish in the top two. He can and is a great value bet for this week
